This notice explains what Reel collects when you make demos with it, when someone watches a demo you shared, and what you can ask us to do with that information. It’s written for the private beta and will be replaced by a full notice before launch.
1. Who we are
Nova Creations, based in Nigeria at [postal address], runs Reel. For the content in a workspace, the organisation that owns the workspace decides how it’s used and we handle it for them. For account and website data, we decide.
2. What this notice covers
Reel’s website, the Reel app, the Reel extension for Chrome, share links (/d/…) and embeds (/embed/…). It doesn’t cover the websites where a demo is embedded; those sites have their own notices.
3. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run Reel. The table lists the main categories.
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, and your name if you add one | To sign you in and show who did what |
| Workspace content | Screenshots, demo text, hotspots, blur boxes, comments, invited people’s email addresses | To build, store and show your demos |
| Viewing data | How far a viewing got, whether it finished, time watched, whether it was embedded. Tied to a random number, not a person | To show stats to the demo’s workspace |
| Server logs | IP address, browser and pages requested, kept briefly by our hosting providers | To keep Reel running and secure |
4. How we use it
We use it to provide Reel, to show workspace members how their demos are watched, to keep the service secure, and to tell you about important changes. We don’t sell personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your content to train AI models.
6. The Reel extension for Chrome
The extension captures nothing until you press Start capturing, and only in the tab where you pressed it. While it’s capturing, each click saves a screenshot of the visible part of that tab, the place you clicked, the page’s address and title, and a description of what you clicked (its label and position on the page). It never records keystrokes, never reads what you type into fields, and doesn’t capture clicks in password fields.
Steps are kept on your computer, in the extension’s own storage, until you press Finish. Then they’re uploaded to your Reel workspace and deleted from your computer. If a capture is interrupted, the steps stay on your computer for up to 7 days so you can upload or discard them. The extension only talks to Reel; it doesn’t send anything to anyone else and has no access to other websites’ data beyond the tab you’re capturing.
7. Service providers
We use three providers: Supabase for the database, file storage and sign-in emails, hosted in [region], Vercel for hosting, and Anthropic for Claude’s tooltip drafts. They store and process data only for us, under their data processing terms.
When a workspace member asks Claude to draft or rewrite a step’s text, we send Anthropic that step’s screenshot, with its blur boxes painted over first, where it was clicked, the page title and the text of the steps next to it. Nothing is sent unless someone asks. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, this isn’t used to train their models.
To find emails, phone numbers, card numbers and keys to blur, the editor reads the text in each new screenshot in your own browser. The screenshot isn’t sent anywhere for this. The reading engine is downloaded from the jsDelivr network the first time, like any other web file.
8. How long we keep it
Workspace content stays until a member deletes it or an admin deletes the workspace. Deleting a workspace removes its demos, members, invites, comments and viewing records straight away; its screenshot files are cleared within [timeframe to be confirmed]. Viewing records are kept as long as their demo.
9. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your information, and object to some uses. Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these rights, as do similar laws where you live. Email jonmidas27@gmail.com. If your request is about a workspace you’re not an admin of, we’ll pass it to its admins.
10. International transfers
Our providers’ servers are outside Nigeria, in [region]. [Safeguards for transfers to be confirmed before launch].
11. Contact
Questions or complaints: jonmidas27@gmail.com, or write to [postal address]. You can also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or the data protection authority where you live.
